NON-MOTORIZED VEHICLE PARKING ON STREETS
Just a reminder that non-motorized vehicles (horse trailers, travel trailers, boats, etc.) cannot be parked on the street/right- of-way for longer than 20 days, according to Ordinance #309. If you have a non-motorized vehicle and it has been there longer than 20 days, please remove it from the street, especially during the winter months when we are plowing snow.
Also, please be sure that you are not parking vehicles, boats, travel trailers, etc. in the alleys. The alleys should be accessible at all times for utility work, etc.
Thank you. :)
SPECIAL LEVY:
The levy is on the November ballot again this year. The special levy helps fund general operations, improvements of streets and the town’s water/sewer systems. The levy is the same as last year’s, $30,000. Please vote YES on the November ballot. Thank you in advance for helping the Town of Colton make improvements.
VISIBLE ADDRESSES ON COLTON HOMES
There are many homes in town that do not have a visible address on them. It is very important to ensure that every home in Colton has an address in a visible location. This is so important especially for the police and fire departments in emergency situations. So, if you don’t have an address on your home, please do this, as soon as you possibly can.
Thank you.
DOG LICENSING AND VACCINATIONS:
The Town of Colton’s Ordinance #224 and #269 requires that a license be purchased for all dogs 6 months of age or older, that are harbored within the town. You may obtain a license at Town Hall. The cost of a lifetime dog license is $15.00. Rabies vaccination records are maintained by the town and must be kept current.

MAYOR'S CORNER:
Hi Everyone,
As your Mayor, I have been tying to help improve our town and I feel that the council and I have been doing this. The Town has applied for three Transportation Improvement Board Grants (TIB). The first application is to build a new street behind the High School, from Highway 195 to the Town Cemetery. The second application is to replace the sidewalks in front of Legion Park and in front of Town Hall. And the third one is to resurface Summit Street. All these grants will improve our town, and we hope that they will also help provide some economic development.
I have attended many Mayor Round Table Meetings around Whitman County. These meetings are sponsored by Avista and SWEDA and are very helpful to our communities. We have learned what other towns are doing and what events they have going on. I have also been attending Uniontown’s Economic Development Committee Meetings. This committee is very active and is encouraging Colton to be involved with them in helping to increase economic development. They are planning to send out a survey to everyone living in Colton and Uniontown to find out what the citizen’s feel is needed to get some development going. I would like to see more Colton citizens involved with this committee, and ask that you consider helping me out. We don’t have a lot of events in our town and we need to get more businesses here as well.
So if anyone is interested in helping me, please give me a call. I would love to hear from you.
Thank you
Jerry Weber
A MESSAGE FROM STEVE BREMER:
Winter will be here soon and with this comes snow removal. Please remember to remove snow around your meter boxes. If snow is not removed from them, I will not be able to read your meters. There is a possibility of your water meter freezing during cold weather. You can stop this from happening by leaving a small stream of water running in a sink when temperatures drop below freezing or by adding insulation or bagged dry leaves inside the meter box. If you do not know where your water meter is or need insulation to help stop freezing, let me know and I will be glad to help you. Please call me at 229-3717, between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Thank you.
